Surrend: Arts in hotspots

When the new Danish Poster Museum in Aarhus is finished in late 2009 there will be a Surrend exhibition there.

Surrend have been invited to do an exhibition at the Danish Museum of Art and Design in beginning of 2010.

Exhibitions

17.1 - 1.3.2008: "Surrend", Larm Gallery, wwww.larmgalleri.dk, Copenhagen, Denmark. Artist behind the exhibition: Pia Bertelsen, Jan Egesborg, Stine Skøtt-Olesen and Martin Nielsen.

22.2 - 28.3.20008: "ZOG", Kunstverein Tiergarten, Berlin, Germany, the exhibition was open ny Klaus Staeck. Artists behind the exhibition: Pia Bertelsen, Jan Egesborg, Stine Skøtt-Olesen and Martin Nielsen.

29.2 - 24.3.2008: "Nichts ist heilig", Quartier 21, Vienna, Austria


                            Background

Surrend is the name of a satirical art-group. The members are: Jan Egesborg, Pia Bertelsen. The group started during the funeral of Serbian war criminal Slobodan Milosevic in the winter of 2006.

The idea behind Surrend is to make fun of the world’s powerful men and crazy ideological conflicts.

Surrend consists of independent artists – and is not connected to any NGO or political party.

Surrend uses the street as its exhibition space. And Surrend uses stickers, ads, websites and posters with ironic texts as its expression medium.

So far, Surrend has been in Serbia, Belarus, Turkey, Poland, Sri Lanka, Faroe Islands, Iran, Germany, Russia, Austria, Burma and Zurich.
